More Verses For 'Public Vindication'

Host10028PublicVindicationOnwardChristianSoldiers [New lyrics in bold italics]

1.       Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
         with the cross of Jesus going on before.
         Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
         forward into battle see his banners go!

         Onward, Christian soldiers, mopping up the war,
         Christ defeated Satan, many years before.
         He destroyed the Temple, A. D. 70,
         Now we follow after, toward all purity.  (? ‘victory’?)
Refrain:
         Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
         with the cross of Jesus going on before.
         Public Vindication, mopping up the war,
         Jesus won the victory, many years before.

2.       At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
         on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
         Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
         brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

         Prophets had foretold it, Psalms had sung its doom,
         Now we sing His glory, now he gives us room.
         We have been raised up with Him, to the heavenlies,
         And we worship up there, drinking to the lees.
         (Refrain)

3.       Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
         brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
         We are not divided, all one body we,
         one in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
         No more central places, on the earth to pray,
         Now ascended worship, we can truly say.
         Christ has won the victory, it’s already won,
         Hence our worship glorious, for it has been done.
         (Refrain)

4.       Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
         but the church of Jesus constant will remain.
         Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
         we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

         Already we have conquered, not completely yet,
         We fill up what’s lacking, verdict has been set.
         We must suffer with Him, following His path,
         Serving unto victory, with His love and wrath.
         (Refrain)

5.       Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
         blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
         Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
         this through countless ages men and angels sing.
         Public Vindication, A. D. 70
         In the hour of triumph, everlastingly,
         Our Lord Jesus justly, Satan did defeat.
         And we Satan crush too, underneath our feet.
         (Refrain)

  1. New refrain to tune of 'Onward Christian Soldiers,' written to celebrate Public Vindication holidayweek: 'Public Vindication! Go! Wrap up the war, Jesus Christ King conquered, many years before. '

    More verses in my pocket, not yet posted. Others will do better.

    Public Vindication! Go! Wrap up the war,
