Pound was entranced with ideographic writing too.
Befre Babel's alphabet/causal language, I hypothesize from Fuller's 'Critical Path' reference was some kind
past and future are one NOW writing?
It's an omegalphic thing.
The movie doesn't do the novella justice. Chiang's narrator shows how the alien language is a 'semagram'.
Thus, as in modern physics equations, time can run forward and backward.
He doesn't say it, but I aver that it's like unto beatific vision.
Worth a read.
