I was reminded of these when I read Diamandis’ essay about getting from UBI (Universal Basic Income) to UHI (Universal High Income). He mentions 3 steps: Something like the GI Bill gives everyone $36,000,2—A tax on robots (?) and 3—Demonetization is the process by which entire categories of human needs move from scarce, expensive, and labor-intensive to abundant, near-free, and algorithmically or robotically delivered. This has already happened to music, navigation, photography, information, telephony and intelligence. The marginal cost of delivering these to the millionth user is zero. The category has been demonetized.

North’s economic commentary on Luke handles the disparagement of riches by stating that the issue is ‘What are the riches for?’. North says it’s the Kingdom of God, and that eternity is the key. He also says that our society (of Christian freedom) will maintain as long as our education is unto businessers who serve.

 

What does that mean for us? Basics. Deirdre (used to be Don) McCloskey says that 2% annual growth since @1650 in N. Europe and England came about because trade and innovation were rewarded rhetorically and financially. ‘Bourgeois Dignity’. Jay Abraham (Orthodox Jew during ‘Icy Hot’) finds unrealized assets, and gives himself away.

PS: There are more than these, but in recent iron-sharpening I’ve come across: ‘Blink’ (art experts react viscerally, not so much verbally, to fake art work, secondly from Pascal ‘The heart has reasons…’, thirdly Sheldrakes’ Seven (mind beyond brain) and lastly, some research that indicates that the brain ‘sees’ even when the eyes don’t.
